The 2000 sft pent house is at 300 ft above ground level. The location is interesting and with views of the city.
The design explores minimalism - with space and light are principle elements of design. One enters the house through an entrance lobby. The living hall is made of sofa seating, dining table, TV unit and a book shelves for the books and music collection. There are 2 colors in the hall that of light cream engineered marble flooring and wood veneer finish. The walls and ceilings are pure pristine white. The windows are deep set and one can sit at the level enjoying the views of the garden and cricket ground below. The dining area of the hall overlooks the adjoining terrace while the windows open views to the city. The hall leads to the guest bedrooms and master bedroom of the house. The main door is wide and austere in veneer finish. if the main door is kept open it allows a free movement through living and terrace.
In the master bedroom, the bed is oriented for the view of the east overlooking the Mumbai harbor and Elephanta Island beyond. Everyday the room is filled with refreshing morning light. Here the flooring and furniture finish are same of wood. The only adornment in the bed is a small Buddha bust in brass on the wall. The bathroom is a large space including with wardrobe, bathing area with soothing color scheme of cream and maroon. Two windows are kept for smooth air movement.
The guest bedroom is similar to master bedroom with minimal provisions and similar materials of veneer for furniture and stone for window and flooring. The toilet is in black and white color scheme.
The house opens on the terrace and terrace opens views of the city in the day and night. The windows are made seating windows to relax in the evenings. The terrace is an open to sky space for unwinding, gatherings and parties with friends. The walls are in white with rough texture with windows in golden yellow Jaisalmer stone while the flooring is in shades of yellow. the bright sunlight and breeze makes this space pleasurable for almost all seasons of the year. one small area on the terrace is created with plantation- in its center an idol of Buddha with a bonsai tree on its backdrop is placed.
The compact and fully equipped kitchen is close to the entrance and dining area. The wide window lets cross ventilation through it makes it very comfortable to work. Silver grey laminates and black granite with white ceiling makes a sleek color combination.
The ambiance of the house is pleasant and refreshing. The house offers different moods with the change of the natural light/lighting conditions.
