SANKHYA MUSEUM complex designed to create a symbolic form representing cultural & scientific values of the SANKHYA institution. The entire building is organized around the central circular open court – THE SHUNYA with both horizontal and central vertical movement around it. Circulation and movement in galleries being principle element of museum design. The visitor arrives at the entrance plaza from the main road and walks through a paved pathway with scientific sculptures on the main axis and enters the building. The building is placed almost centre of site with north east part has an amphitheater using site contours. It is on a central axis of main building.
The museum is designed as 4 gallery wings arranged around the central open circular courtyard- the void or shunya or zero. To highlight the importance of zero to the mathematics and statistics both conceptually and symbolically - the design of the building is physically pivoted on the central open circular courtyard- the void or shunya or zero. Controlled Natural light is used as design element to create inspiring pleasant ambiance in the entire building. Simple low rise pristine metallic building within the green landscape. The 4 courts between gallery halls have 4 statues in landscaped steps- of Aryabhatta Bhaskaracharya, P. C. Mahalanobis and Ramanujan. External Wall would be in metal cladding and external landscaping in local grey granite. External elevations have corner windows for controlled light and maximum display walls in galleries.
