LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) office complex is designed to create a vibrant corporate building. A landmark glass building with greenery planned in 2 wings - Phase I & II (as per the requirement) around the central corridor with entrance lobby in the center. The curved external glass walls with a shape of "8" in plan create interesting building form and offers views of the city. The energy efficiency strategies adopted in the building reduces in energy consumption to minimum thus making it economical throughout the life cycle of the building.
The visitor arrives from the internal road and walks through an entrance lobby and enters on either side- Phase I on right or Phase II on left. Circulation is combination of lifts for visitors and ramps for cars. Circulation space is kept minimum. The entire building is planned for smooth horizontal and vertical movement. To portray the corporate image - the external facade of the building has sandwich glass walls for heat and moisture insulation and 4 columns in shining stainless steel spanning the pergola at the roof level with louvers made of photo-voltaic solar panels. It protects the building from direct sun rays and also produces solar energy. Natural light is used as design element to create pleasant ambiance in the entire building. The external curtain wall is of double glass for energy saving by insulation. The building has landscaped terracing with large planter boxes and lawns for cooler micro climate.
