The 3500 sft pent house is at 27th floor at 300 ft above ground level. The location is interesting with 270 degrees views of the city.
The design explores to utilize the spaces and its unique location with regards to views of the city and the large terrace of the house. The spaces, light, cross ventilation and materials are principle elements of design. The design links the house with terrace garden in the sky to the city of Mumbai. It creates pleasant living ambiance full of color and energy.
The house span the entire wing and terrace are on one side and entered through the lift lobby of the floor.
Entrance lobby: One enters the house through a lift lobby. The lift lobby is designed as an entrance lobby to the house. The large double door greets the person and lets in the living hall with dining and further to terrace on one side. The other door lets entry to children’s and guest room. The lobby has inlay work design in Italian flooring depicting flower and sun. One of the walls has a mural of city nightlights. The soft lighting creates an ambiance of warm greeting to the house.
Living & Dining Hall: The main door is 8 feet high and 8 feet wide double shutter twin door with austere in wenge finish laminate and stainless steel grills. The living hall is made of sofa seating, TV unit, dining table and a crockery unit. One is greeted by the red roses wall mural made of ceramic tiles and form backdrop to the living sofas. The entire hall and dining has light beige Italian marble flooring and walls and ceilings are light white. The walls and ceilings are pure pristine white. The windows to the east are deep set and one can sit at the sill level enjoying the views of the garden and cricket ground below. The windows seats and sides are made of light color Italian marble same as flooring. The roman blind curtains add further elegance to the space. The hall has an elliptical column covered with glass mosaic tiles with niches for display.
The living and dining area of the hall opens out to the adjoining terrace. The hall’s other side leads to the master bedroom of the house and guest washroom. If the main door is kept open it allows a free air movement through living and terrace.
Terrace garden: The house opens on the terrace from the Living hall. One sees the end wall of the large terrace with a full wall Sun Mural. The terrace has a glass swing, a small blue pool with fountain, waterfall on mural wall. The terrace walls are painted in green plants to create garden. The terrace opens views of the city in the day and night. The windows are made seating windows to relax in the evenings. The terrace is an open to sky space for unwinding, gatherings and parties with friends. The walls are in green with rough texture with windows in golden yellow Jaisalmer stone and tiles while the flooring is in shades of orange and yellow. The bright sunlight and breeze makes this space pleasurable for almost all seasons of the year. In the night one gazes the sky and stars with sweet water fountain sounds – making an incredibly relaxing environment. Every day after the hard work all day – the terrace garden is a place to unwind. In monsoon experiencing the rains with winds evokes poetic emotions and in winter to be in clouds with coffee is just an amazing experience.
Master bedroom: In the master bedroom, the bed is oriented for the view of the west overlooking the Mumbai city beyond and salt pans nearby. It has study area and large wardrobes on one side. The room is filled with refreshing morning light. Here the flooring is white and furniture finish is laminate in deep red. The backrest of the bed rises to ceiling and covers it. The master bathroom is a large space including twin tub bathing area with spa and Jacuzzi in it. The walls of wet area are separable and adorned in shades of pink glass tiles. The dry area has soothing color scheme of cream and white by composite marble walls and floor.
Children’s Terrace: One enters the other part of the house and is greeted by an silver spirals mural on the wall- which leads to the children’s and guest room further. The terrace is covered with pebble tiles flooring and green poly-carbonate roof. This terrace is a play area for children for table games like carom, chess, cards, etc.
Children’s room: The children’s room is another interesting space with 3 beds, study and fun. 2 windows open views outside while the third one opens in covered terrace. So the terrace, its adjoining space and children’s room are connected. Full wall of wardrobe and a part with 3 fold-able study tables gives the flexibility of using space. The wardrobe shutters has a design of abacus while a wall is to display medals of the kids. The children’s bathroom has a glass mosaic mural of dolphin over the tub and it’s mirrored by the large mirror above wash basin. So the bathroom has seems with murals on parallel walls.
Guest room: A simple guest bedroom with attached bathroom has blue and white color scheme. The double bed faces a window surrounded with wardrobe round it. Two windows let cross ventilation. and is similar to master bedroom with all provisions and similar materials of laminate finish for furniture and stone for window and flooring. The toilet is in black and white color scheme.
Kitchen: The compact and fully equipped kitchen is close to the entrance and dining area. The wide window lets cross ventilation through it makes it very comfortable to work. Silver grey laminates and black granite with white ceiling makes a sleek color combination.
Every space or room has cross ventilation with windows at cross locations. There is no AC in the house except one in master bedroom for certain summer days. The entire house has security system of CCTV cameras at critical locations and connected to display for all TVs and alerts for monitoring through internet and mobiles. The Epabx system, cordless phones are placed in every room for communication and comfort.
The ambiance of the house is pleasant and refreshing. It’s full of energy and rigor. At the same time it’s comfortable and luxurious. The house offers different moods with the change of the natural light/lighting conditions and during different times of the day. A design of a living of a “House with garden in the sky” – unimaginably wonderful in a city of Mumbai – seems a dream/magical.
