The Architecture of the building represents cultural ethos and modern progressive aspirations of Assam State of northeast India. The magnificent bold form of the building presents a Stately Corporate Complex of Assam Industrial Development Corporation. The facade along with a mural has terraces expressing the beautiful hill landscape of Assam and its terraced tea gardens. Mural on facade depicts the sacred Brahmaputra river in blue and symbolizes the Assamese culture with Brahmaputra river flowing through it. The front landscaped sculpture garden is designed in the geographical shape of Assam state with water feature as the river. Through the ever flowing river mural and terrace gardens indicates vibrancy and liveliness of the building and the state in which is located.
The entire building is organized as a cube with open plan modular offices floor plates around a central vertical movement and services core. The AIDC and Convention center are on topmost floors for views across the Guwahati city. External Wall cladding in combination with local natural stone & granite and part with Glass curtain wall glazing with the Brahmaputra river mural. The front pergola is projected from cube and aligns the plot line angle. The pergola is sun protection shade with play of moving shadows as per the sun’s movement during the day. Rain water harvesting for conservation of storm water is used by watering the plantation of terraces - circulating the cascading down water through planter boxes on terraces.
Big windows for penetration of natural light and thus conserve energy for lighting. It also offers views of city and creates vibrant internal work space ambiance. Some elevations have part glazed walls within RCC frame for direct natural lighting. The entire building envelope is of external cavity walls and particularly maximum on south side for heat insulation, rain protection, moisture elimination, dust and thus conserve energy consumption throughout the life cycle of the building.
